What is Ortho-K?
Orthokeratology: also known as OK lenses, Overnight Vision Correction, Corneal Molding, and Corneal Refractive Therapy)
Ortho-K is the gentle and painless reshaping of the cornea to improve eyesight with our custom designed rigid lenses specifically for your eyes. They are worn while sleeping, in order to correct near-sightedness (myopia) and astigmatism. These special lenses are removed upon waking, the result is clear vision all day long.
Controlling Myopia Progression
This is one of the greatest requests by parents and another huge added benefit of Orthokeratology. For younger patients who suffer from continuing worsening of their nearsightedness (stronger glasses every year) Orthokeratology significantly slows down this progression
Overnight Vision Correction
Orthokeratology is the process of using specially designed molds to change the shape of the cornea. The molds are worn while sleeping, similar to a dental retainer. After waking up and removing the molds you can see great with nothing in the eye. It's completely safe and nonsurgical.
Affordable
Treatment
The Orthokeratology Treatment is considerably less expensive then Lasik surgery. Our treatment fee's are global and all-inclusive. This includes all exams, corneal molding lens, follows ups, and replacements for the year. Call us at 718-355-9656 for any Ortho-K related questions!

Testimonials
My wife and I both got the ortho-k lenses and it has been life-changing (wife 4 weeks in and me 1 day). We had never heard of orthokeratology, but a trustworthy colleague who had gotten it done two years ago highly recommended it. We gave it a shot. It took my wife ~4-5 days to get perfect vision! I just received my lenses yesterday and believe it or not... I felt after 10 minutes of trying it on during fitting that my eye-sight had already improved. One night-- 10 hours of sleep in-- and I woke up to a different world. I can see the Exit Door sign on a building across the harbor from my window. We both did not want to get Lasik this early in our lives (especially with work requiring 10-12 hours in front of a computer all day) and this has been a miraculous discovery. Highly recommend!
Dr. Nguyen was so helpful and positive in my daughter’s Ortho K experience. Her eyesight used to get worse every year but it’s been stable for the past 3 years. Very satisfied with our experience.

What is Ortho-K?Orthokeratology (OrthoK) is an FDA-approved, non-surgical procedure in which our optometrist custom designs lenses that gently apply pressure to the corneas to correct your vision. They are worn while sleeping, in order to correct near-sightedness (myopia) and astigmatism. These special lenses are removed upon waking, and the result is clear vision all day long.

Is Ortho-K right for me?To determine if you are a great candidate for Orthokeratology, we must first take a digital map of your eye during our orthokeratology consultation. By looking at your prescription, the shape of your eye, and the health of your cornea- our doctors will be able to determine if Orthokeratology will work for you or not. With Orthokeratology, there are no age restrictions. It is FDA approved for all ages!

Is Ortho-K for children and adults?Yes! Ortho-K is ideal for children and adults who want to correct their vision and go all day without glasses or contact lenses. Why should I start Ortho-K with Dr. Diana Nguyen? We're specialists with real proven success! When it comes to custom designs, experience is the most important ingredient to ensure successful outcomes. Dr. Diana Nguyen is a orthokeratolgist certified in Wave, CRT, and VST lenses. She has been sucessfully treating myopia for over 10 years and is a specialist in designing custom OK lenses for every individual. Not every eye doctor can perform orthokeratology effectively. The reason is similar to why not all dentists are orthodontists or why not all doctors are surgeons. In order to perform Ortho-K correctly, a doctor must to go through additional certifications and training. Performing orthokeratology also requires a corneal topographer to measure the exact shape of every part of the cornea. Our office uses state of the art equipment including a Medmont topographer which many offices do not have access to.

Are all Ortho-K Lenses the same? Not all Ortho-K lenses are created the same or have the same likelyhood of success! Many doctors who perform Orthokeratology do not have the ability to design custom lenses for every individual. Some doctors use what’s called a CRT fitting set which can be effective sometimes- but does not work as quickly or as effectively as custom lenses. Imagine the difference between wearing a wedding dress “off the rack” as opposed to one that's been custom tailored specifically for you! Our office specializes in using WAVE technology in combination with Medmont topographies for Ortho-K. Used by many of the most progressive and advanced Orthokeratologists in the world, WAVE is widely considered to be the gold standard of personalized OK lenses. These custom designs allow us to fit difficult cases or higher prescriptions that other providers would consider "out of range".

How much is Ortho-K?No hidden costs here! In general, the inital price for Ortho-K treatment varies anywhere from $1,850 to $2,200 for both eyes depending on the prescription and complexity. This fee includes all necessary lenses and follow-up care with the physician for the year. This is about half the cost of LASIK surgery. Your eyes do continue to change and we recommend updating the lenses annually. Replacing the lenses with updated designs generally range around $750 and is priced similarly as a year supply of daily contacts. These fee's include all visits with the doctor.
